Touch-free automation for your home to reduce contact with frequently touched surfaces

As we go through these tough times of global uncertainty due to the coronavirus, it's only natural to re-think the way we live our everyday lives and how we can practice social distancing and ensure we are doing all we can with hygiene by washing our hands and reducing contact with high traffic/frequently touched surfaces.

One way to compliment this is through the use of various automation techonologies.

Everyday we are touching surfaces throughout the home, all the time without even thinking, light switches, thermostats, tv remote control, door handles, taps, blind cords etc.

Although, we can't avoid all of these surfaces, there are some areas that can easily be automated to cut down frequent contact, which in turn can help to reduce spreading germs within the home.

The latest popular ways you can introduce not only hygiene solutions into your home but also convenient and energy efficient is through voice assistance.

The use of voice control or voice activated software like Amazon's Alexa, Google Assistant or Apple's Siri has been used for efficiency, convenience, reducing energy consumption and some people, just because it's pretty cool.

More recently due to what is happening all round the world, it is becoming apparent that using this software can provide hygiene solutions within the home as you are able to control your lights, blinds, fans, locks, entertainment, streaming music or even your coffee machine and more, all contact-free by using only your voice.e

So you get to enjoy hands-free control with simple voice commands such as "Alexa, turn on Welcome" and that lights up the hallway, kitchen and living room, turns on your favourite Spotify playlist, while the door locks itself behind you.

Imagine all the surfaces that would have been touched to carry out those actions manually, you can start to see the benefits.

We would love to hear what you think about voice control and contact-fee technology, is it going to far? Do you think it is part of everyone's future? Can you see the benefits?
